Shipping Services

Since 2003 the Group has been chartering vessels for log export cargoes. Growth has been significant over that time and the Group now charter an average of 1 vessel every 2.32 days.

South Pacific Shipping

Shipping services are provided by South Pacific Shipping Ltd (SPS), which was incorporated in 2008 to provide shipping services for the Pacific Forest Products Group in the fast growing log export market. SPS now ships over 5.5 million tonnes of logs and lumber per year from New Zealand, Australia and Uruguay to the Asia Pacific and Indian markets.

Head office for SPS is Auckland, New Zealand but they also have staff based in Tauranga and Gisborne to assist with vessel planning and loading. The company also has an office in Portland, Australia to manage the movement of logs from Australia to Asia. SPS ships out of most major ports in New Zealand, predominantly from Marsden Point, Tauranga, Gisborne, Napier, Timaru and Port Chalmers. The company also operates from the Australian ports of Burnie, Bell Bay, Hobart and Portland along with Fray Bentos and Montevideo in Uruguay.

SPS charters a range of vessels from Handysize to Supramax and Panamax and has also chartered project vessels for outbound log voyages. With New Zealand exporting around 20 million tonnes of logs annually and Australian 1 million tonnes, SPS are well placed to charter vessels open on the New Zealand and Australian coasts.
